Be a part of a supportive network and have the opportunity to connect, contribute, and help shape the future of support for people impacted by Huntington’s disease.

Huntington’s Australia warmly welcomes new members. The more members we have, the better we can understand and serve the needs of the Huntington’s community. Our members include people with Huntington’s disease (HD), carers, family members and friends, along with health professionals and supporters who believe in our mission.

Huntington’s Australia was established through the support, involvement, and endorsement of five state registered incorporated associations, whose objectives and values were aligned. It is through the inception of these state entities, forged by founding community members from the early 1970s, that both membership in, and community connection to, the organisations has grown and strengthened.

What are the benefits of becoming a member?

Becoming a member allows you to:

  • Receive invitations to attend Annual General Meetings and other schedules formal events (such was Walk 4 Hope and Light It Up 4 HD)
  • Vote at the Annual General Meeting or Special General Meetings on changes put forward by the board of directors
  • Nominate to hold a formal role in the organisation (such as Board member)
  • Advocate and be involved in an organisation that is supporting people with Huntington’s disease
What are your responsibilities as a member?
  • support the purpose(s) of the Huntington’s Australia;
  • agree to comply with, and be bound by, the Constitution, including paying the guarantee ($10) if required (see clause 3 & 4); and
  • agree to pay the membership fee (if any)
How much does it cost?

As a newly formed organisation, the Board made the decision to waive annual membership fees for the 2023–2024 and 2024–2025 periods. This was done to ensure that everyone in the HD community could access support and resources without financial barriers during our foundational years.

Now, as we look to the future, the Board is asking for your support.

In 2025, we are calling on our members and community to help us build a stronger, more supportive future for everyone impacted by Huntington’s disease. Your involvement—whether through membership, donations, volunteering, or advocacy—will ensure we can continue providing essential services, growing our reach, and deepening our impact.

Together, we can create a community where no one faces HD alone.

  • Ordinary Membership – $22 per year
  • Youth Membership – free
  • Organisational Membership – $100 per year

Our constitution

Huntington’s Australia abides by a constitution of rules set out and voted upon by members and directors of the organisation. This important document guides the Association’s activities and focusses on a Board level and is fundamental to our operation and direction.
