Huntington’s Australia (HA) is the peak national body dedicated to supporting individuals and families impacted by Huntington’s disease (HD) across Australia. Established in October 2023 through the unification of five state and territory associations, HA now provides a stronger, more coordinated voice for the HD community.
We offer a wide range of services to improve the quality of life for those impacted by HD, including:
- Advocacy and awareness campaigns
- Training and education for caregivers, disability support providers, allied health professionals, and other stakeholders
- Comprehensive support for individuals at every stage of their HD journey, from those at risk or newly diagnosed to those experiencing advanced symptoms.
What is Huntington’s disease?
Huntington’s disease (HD) is an inherited degenerative neurological condition affecting the brain and central nervous system. It progressively impairs mental and physical abilities, eventually leading to the loss of critical functions such as walking, talking, eating and reasoning. Complications arising from HD ultimately resulting in death.
