What is the Hidden World of Huntington’s Disease?
The Hidden World of Huntington’s Disease is a national photography exhibition including a collection of photographs and stories from over 120 people with lived experience of HD. The powerful photovoice project was launched by Dr Travis Cruickshank, Ms Melanie Clark, and Mrs Cassandra Barnes from Edith Cowan University, with contributions and support from Huntington’s Australia, and is now being shown globally.
Huntington’s disease has a prevalence of 8.9 people per 100,000. Although rare, the impact of HD is significant. Through this exhibition, people affected by Huntington’s can tell their story in their own words and through their own photos, raising awareness and understanding.

Currently showing at Café VIVA, Hidden World of Huntington’s Disease is already receiving amazing feedback:
“I didn’t know a lot about Huntington’s disease before seeing the exhibition, and I had no idea it was a genetic condition or that there is currently no cure. The images really stayed with me and made me want to go away and learn more. I think that’s what makes an exhibition like this so important. It starts conversations and raises awareness about a condition many of us may not otherwise know much about.”
