Running for hope: Jordan’s story

For Jordan, Huntington’s disease (HD) has been a part of her life for as long as she can remember.

Her father was diagnosed with HD in 1992, the same year she was born. Though he passed away in 2010, Jordan vividly remembers the incredible support Huntington’s Australia (HA) provided to her family, to ensure her father could live the best life possible.

Huntington’s disease is once again touching Jordan’s life. Her brother is currently undergoing testing to confirm an HD diagnosis, and during a recent call with HA, Jordan and her family were moved by the kindness they received.

“I felt supported by their kind words and advice. I wanted to find a way to give back to such an amazing organisation that does so much for families like mine every day.”

Now, Jordan is preparing to raise funds for HA by running in the Brisbane Half Marathon, a meaningful tribute to her father’s love of jogging.

“Running helps me feel close to him. It’s a way to honour his memory and raise awareness for HD.”

Her advice to others looking to fundraise for the Huntington’s community is both heartfelt and empowering:

“Start small, start local, but dream big. Every effort counts, and your fundraiser could make a lasting difference in someone’s life.”

Through her efforts, Jordan hopes to not only raise funds but also highlight the profound impact HD has on individuals and families alike. Let’s cheer Jordan on and support her inspiring journey! Every step she takes helps make a difference.
